The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is accepting public comments through October 14, 2025, for the agency’s proposed regulation changes to establish Paynes Branch Game Land. A virtual public hearing on the proposed changes is scheduled for September 23, 2025.

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is accepting public comments through October 14, 2025, for the agency’s periodic rules review regarding Wildlife Service Agents. A virtual public hearing on the proposed changes is scheduled for September 24, 2025.

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) welcomes Commissioner Justin Boyd to its governing board. Boyd was appointed as an At-Large member by North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler and will serve a four-year term until June 30, 2029. Boyd was sworn in on July 22 at the Department of Agriculture headquarters in Raleigh.

The Nongame Wildlife Advisory Committee (NWAC) will meet on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the Commission Conference Room, 5th Floor, 1751 Varsity Drive, Raleigh, NC, from 10:00am to 2:30pm.

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission Law Enforcement Division has sworn in 23 new wildlife law enforcement officers graduating from the agency’s 61st Basic Academy training.

At its business meeting this week, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) elected Mark Craig, of Guilford County, to serve as chairman and Landon G. Zimmer, of New Hanover County, was elected vice chairman.

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) will open 2025 flounder harvest season for Inland Fishing Waters and in Joint Fishing Waters for hook and line fishing only, Sept. 1 to Sept. 14, 2025. The daily creel limit is one fish with a minimum size limit of 15 inches.
